The Mission 1000 programme has received accreditation from the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic for the professional service of Parenting Skills Development. The accreditation confirms the programme’s professional foundation, the quality of the support it provides, and the compliance of its methodology with the requirements of the Social Services Act.
Mission 1000 focuses on supporting families from pregnancy until the beginning of compulsory pre-primary education. Through trained community workers known as babice, the programme strengthens parenting skills, promotes healthy child development, and helps families navigate healthcare, social, and educational services.
The Parenting Skills Development service is aimed at strengthening parental competencies, supporting the healthy physical, psychological, and social development of children, and creating a safe and stimulating environment in which they can thrive. An important aspect of the programme is the practical support provided directly to parents in their natural environment, combined with an individualised approach that responds to the specific needs of each family.
The programme is based on the understanding that pregnancy and the first years of a child’s life have a significant impact on their future health, social well-being, and educational outcomes. Supporting parents during this period is therefore one of the most effective ways to prevent future challenges and create the conditions for a healthy start in life.
“We see this accreditation as recognition of the long-term work of the entire Mission 1000 team and, at the same time, as a commitment to continue providing high-quality professional support to families. We believe that investing in the early years of a child’s life has a positive impact not only on children and their parents, but also on entire communities,” says Magdaléna Rothová, the professional representative responsible for the accredited service.
Mission 1000 operates in communities across the Prešov and Košice regions of eastern Slovakia, connecting families with community resources and professional support services. The programme’s goal is to help parents create the conditions necessary for the healthy development of their children and to ensure that every child has the best possible start in life.
